Dr Selim Hani is a PhD holder and current Hospital Director of the Lebanese American University Medical Center – Saint John Hospital in Jounieh. Having studied Neuroscience and Industrial Engineering at McGill University and Ecole Polytechnique, Dr Hani is the author of a number of scientific publications in the fields of medical sciences, healthcare and technology engineering. He has been the key speaker in different scientific conferences in Berlin, Seattle, Philadelphia, Marrakesh and Montreal and holds several academic awards. Prior to the development of LAUMC-Saint John Hospital, Selim was an Industrial Engineering Professor at the American University of Beirut (AUB) from 2017 to 2020 and a Professor in Neuroscience at the School of Medical Sciences in the Lebanese University – Hadath. Selim has substantial experience in hospital planning, healthcare infrastructure development, hospital development and equipping, having worked on many projects for private firms and multinationals in West Africa and the Middle East. His experience also covers the design and development of specialized factories. He has participated in the development of healthcare restructuring plans in developing countries and was also involved in the setting-up of infrastructure salvation strategies. Selim is a strong believer in the importance of a strong industrial core and healthcare base. He is confident that thorough development of specialized industries and planned development of healthcare systems can constitute a strong basis for a significant economic and social development in Lebanon.
