Dr. Georges Ghanem obtained his MD from St. Joseph University in Lebanon in 1985 and pursued his Cardiology Residency and Fellowship in Paris, and further training in the USA. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and American College of Cardiology. He was elected President of the Lebanese Society of Cardiology (LSC) in 2005. In his clinical practice, Georges has been a pioneer in introducing major interventional cardiology techniques in Lebanon since 1993. His name appears in more than 70 publications (manuscripts, editorials, abstracts, and book chapters). He has organized, chaired, and lectured extensively in multiple local, regional, and international cardiology meetings and symposiums. Georges has occupied major leadership positions at LAU Medical Center (previously Rizk Hospital) including Head of Cardiology, Chairman of Internal medicine, President of the Medical Committee, President of the Executive Committee, Member of the Board and, in September 2016, Chief Medical Officer. Georges is a founding member of “The White Coat Organization”, encouraging medical groups to voice their concerns and plans for change. He has participated in multiple demonstrations, media interviews and press conferences highlighting the corruption and incompetence of the authorities, as well as the excessive unjustified violence against peaceful protestors.
